In and around the Triangle area, there are several beautiful luxury listings available for sale. What exactly differentiates these properties from the standard market? Is it the square footage, the features, or the technology? Some would say it is all of the above. Ultimately, luxury buyers are not looking at the price tag in their search for their next dream home but the amazing amenities that come with the property. Here are the top 6 must-have features in luxury homes!
1. Indoor / Outdoor living
Indoor/outdoor living seamlessly extends your home's great room or dining quarters. This trend tends to keep cohesion in design from the interior to the exterior of your home. Typically indoor/ outdoor living has always been a primal commodity when searching for a new home. With the new normal consisting of being at your humble abode more these days, the amenity has become a necessity. What makes an outdoor living space luxurious is the ability to provide comfort through all seasons while also allotting multiple entertainment options. High-end features include retracting screened porches, outdoor kitchens, cabanas, and sometimes a type of water feature. This CBHPW luxury listing checks off each box on the list! With its large covered porch and a wood fireplace, the immaculate outdoor kitchen has a top-of-the-line grill station, jacuzzi, and extensive acreage for sporting events or games. One thing for sure is that you may yearn to host any occasion with this property as your next home. To view more of this listing, click here.
2. Theatre Room
Entertainment becomes the next level when a luxury property contains an in-home theater. The ability to bring the ultimate cinematic experience to your fingertips is a sought amenity many buyers search for when hunting for their next home. What makes an in-home theater top-notch is its ability to incorporate features similar to an actual movie theater. This includes a top-of-the-line av-system, projector, large screens, recessed lighting, and comfortable loungers. The goal of the theater room is to immerse yourself in what's on the screen, whether that be the newest megahit movie or the exciting rival sports game. The cinema room pictured above is from none other than one of our CBHPW luxury listings. This glorious in-home theater offers stadium seating, a high-tech projector, and even mimics the groovy movie theater carpet. To view more of this property, click here.
3. Large Garages
The standard two-car garage does not cut it for luxury properties. Buyers are looking for substantial space when envisioning the housing of their precious automobiles. Typically, luxury properties have at least a 3-car garage! To any car buff, the garage is not just a space for storing your vehicle. This part of the property could be turned into a luxurious showroom, man cave, or workshop. This beautiful CBHPW luxury property comes with a three-car garage with gorgeous rustic wood garage doors. To view more of this property, click here.
4. Intricate Ceiling Designs
Raised ceilings and other intricate ceiling styles are quite the fanbase for luxury homes. A room turns from basic to compelling when there is a ceiling feature that adds depth, sophistication, and style. In most luxury dwellings, at least one space must contain a styled ceiling. One of these rooms can be the living room, sitting room, primary bedrooms, and or dining rooms. What exactly are some styles of these ceilings? They are cathedral, tray, beamed, suspended, and coffered. One would love to have any of these exquisite designs in their home! For example, in this CBHPW luxury listing above. The sitting room contains a beautiful coffered ceiling. The coffered ceiling consists of sunken panels accented by molding, creating a waffle-like appearance. What works well in this room is the brilliant addition of recessed lighting. For more on this property click here.
5. Massive Walk-In Closets
Typically an owner of a luxury home tends to live a complete life of luxury. Meaning everything about them is high-end, like their fashion sense. Closets in a luxury home are an extension of the main room and need to boast space and means of organization. Closets these days are not just for hanging clothes. They can be an area to lounge in after using the spa bathroom or a place to put on that fashion show after shopping in the streets of London. For sure, luxury home buyers are looking for closets that encompass organization and can show off their beautiful wardrobe. In this CBHPW luxury home, the primary closet is genuinely massive. This closet incorporates different levels of custom built-in shelving and an island dresser to accommodate all buyers' attire needs. To view more of this property, click here.
6. Relaxing Spa baths
When buyers search for their next home, kitchens and bathrooms are the most focused rooms, which is why main bathrooms in luxury homes are genuinely upping the ante in their need to give that spa-like aura. Features include a jacuzzi bathtub fit for a king, a large walk-in shower that doubles as a steam room, neutral colors, beautiful stone or tile, and lots of space for minimal clutter. In this CBHPW luxury listing, this bathroom truly exuberates comfort and relaxation. The large window allows natural light to encase the room, making the white pop against the darker grays. The unity in neutral colors creates a calming sensation. One can relax in the free-standing tub or use the shower with multi-shower heads in this bathroom. To view more, click here.

2021 is the year of the "Zoom town" – a great shakeup where professionals are exploring their home options. As more jobs go remote, fewer people are tethered to their old neighborhoods. Now's the time to go exploring and find a place where you'll feel truly enthusiastic to live.
For many people, that place is Raleigh, North Carolina.
There are so many reasons to consider Raleigh homes for sale. We decided to share a few!
For example:
Our real estate agents are here to help. Contact us to learn more about Raleigh real estate.
If you're shopping for a home in the best cities for growing your tech career or launching your own startup, then there are only a few American cities that make the cut... and most of them have a cost of living that will stretch even a robust personal budget to the max. Only one city can claim to be a true tech hub, while still offering a cost of living close to the national average. Raleigh, NC has one of the best tech scenes in the eastern half of the country, and an affordable cost of living to match. Our real estate agents know Raleigh, so let's take a closer look at why the city is the perfect place to launch or grow your tech career.
Raleigh, NC: A Hub for Tech Centered Careers
One of the Nation's Largest Tech Hubs
When you shop for Raleigh homes for sale, you're buying into one of the top tech hubs in the entire country. Raleigh is consistently ranked in the top 3 of nationwide tech cities and regularly ranks as the top tech city in the eastern United States. Raleigh's population makes it the second-largest city by population size in North Carolina, and the 41st largest city nationwide. The population size means that you get all of the benefits of a major metro area, without the extreme population density of many other tech hubs.
An Affordable Cost of Living
In tech hubs like Austin and San Francisco, the availability of high-paying tech careers is often offset by a cost of living that is well above the national average. This impacts both the cost of homes in those cities and all of the day-to-day expenses of living in the city. The cost of living in Raleigh consistently checks in at or below the national average, with the cost of transportation, healthcare, and utilities far more affordable than the average city.
A Vibrant Community of Research Universities
So, how has the second-largest city in North Carolina become a tech powerhouse that can compete with the biggest hubs in the country? It starts with an excellent collection of high-quality research universities, which groom their students to become the next generation of tech innovators. While there are three major schools that make up the Research Triangle, North Carolina State University is the closest to Raleigh. Tech companies have been attracted to the area in part because there is a qualified workforce ready to take the next steps in their careers.
World-Class Attractions, Dining, and Entertainment
After a busy weekend of work, the last thing you want is to spend your weekend in a city that lacks entertainment options. Fortunately, that will never be a problem when you live in Raleigh. The city is loaded with museums, historic entertainment venues, great shopping, outdoor attractions, and a dining scene that's a foodie's dream.
When you're ready to find your place in the vibrant, ever-growing tech scene of Raleigh, you can count on our team. Contact us to buy and sell homes throughout the Raleigh, NC area.
Memorial Day weekend is upon us and Mother Nature looks like she is going to cooperate! (Bye, bye rain!) While this year's weekend may look a little different than previous years, we hope that everyone is able to pay tribute to our nation's brave heroes and then enjoy lots of fun in the sun.
While you're out enjoying the long weekend under Carolina blue skies, why not do a little house hunting right from the comfort of your own home. Maybe it's time to upgrade your backyard, entertainment space and look for a home with a built-in grill and room for dining. Or maybe the kids have been begging to live in a neighborhood with a community pool.

We here at Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston make the safety and well-being of our agents and clients our top priority. We will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 outbreak and work to ensure that all possible safety measures and precautions are being taken. We are committed to maintaining reliable service to our clients, while doing our part to limit the spread of the COVID-19.
In order to protect both our clients and agents, we are asking everyone to take precautionary measures:
Soap is the very best preventative for communicating the virus - so use it. Wash your hands regularly, for at least 20 seconds, with soap and water. If you can't wash your hands, the next best thing is to use an anti-bacterial wipe or gel both before, and after, you come into contact with other people, objects, or surfaces. Try to avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. If you sneeze or cough, do it into a tissue, then throw away the tissue, and then wash your hands or wipe them down.
We are all about the practice of "social distancing."
You, your agent, and anyone else you're working with on your transaction should try to communicate as much as possible by videoconference rather than in-person meetings, just to limit the amount of interaction you have with other people. Facetime, Facebook Messenger, Snapchat video, Skype and Zoom are some of the video tools available to use.
At this point, we see no reason to discontinue showings, or open houses, so long as you follow fundamental distancing and hygienic protocols. Try to follow these guidelines:
If you're not feeling well with any kind of cough or fever, please stay home. At this point, there is no need to take chances or put others at risk. This is especially true if you are "high-risk" – if you are over the age of 60 or have any pre-existing conditions you should reduce, if not, eliminate all outside contact as much as possible.
Again, we are committed to maintaining reliable service to our clients and are here to help you in your next real estate transaction, while doing our part to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

Attention home buyers – this is THE weekend for you to find your new home and we're ready to help.
Our in-the-know real estate agents will be hosting open houses this Saturday and Sunday in nearly every corner of this prospering Triangle region and Goldsboro, too. It's time to map out a plan to make the most of this fall weekend.
It doesn't matter if you're entering the second month of your house hunt or are just getting started, you're going to want to make the most of your open house visits.
Power up your computer or charge up your Smart Phone and start "digging" for information on the homes you plan to visit. Access a home valuation estimate on our HPW.com website to review a comprehensive report with property details, recent area sales, and more useful information for each of the homes you like.
Give yourself ample time to tour the homes you visit. Walkthrough each home with the onsite agent and then go back through on your own. Take time to step into the backyard or stroll down the street. Buying a home is a big deal, and you're going to want to gather every detail possible to make an educated decision.
Attending an open house is exciting, especially when you think the home may be perfect for you and your family. Do your best to remain cool, calm, and collected as you take your tour to ensure you see the home as it really is, without the rose-colored lenses.

Are you out and about chasing down the best Black Friday deals in town? Scoring holiday gifts for your loved ones and friends (and yourself) will be a fantastic feat, but imagine the joy of finding your new home will bring.
You may have heard that spring and summer are the time to buy, but there are many reasons you should consider house hunting during the cold winter months.
It's common for buyer-competition to thin out in the winter as many people prefer to house hunt during the warmer seasons when the school year is waning.
Winter home sellers are often more motivated to close a deal than those who sell during the peak season. They may be relocating for a job promotion, hoping to get a sale squared away before the new year, or simply ready to get their real estate journey underway.
Winter weather can tax a home. From the roof and gutters to the HVAC, plumbing and drafty doors, cold temperatures may reveal issues that you would otherwise have overlooked in warmer months.
Let our Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston real estate agents help you find the home you seek. Our listing agents will be happy to host you at their open houses this Saturday and Sunday.

Attention home buyers – this is THE weekend for you to find your new home and we're ready to help.
Our in-the-know real estate agents will be hosting open houses this Saturday and Sunday in nearly every corner of this prospering Triangle region and Goldsboro, too. It's time to map out a plan to make the most of this weekend.

Home. It's a word that carries a deep emotional connection. It's where you create memories, lay your head at night and spend time with your loved ones. Hurricane Florence has devastated the eastern part of the state leaving many without a home. Some homes are so damaged they aren't safe enough to live in. Some homes are submerged in water leaving only the roof visible. Some people remain unable to even get home to see if their house is still standing due to flooded roads.
This weekend, our Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston real estate agents will be hosting open houses across Central NC. We invite you to not only visit our open houses this weekend, but we ask that if you have any items you'd like to donate to those impacted by Hurricane Florence, bring those along. We will be taking a convoy of trucks to eastern NC next week to deliver much-needed supplies. Below is a list of items being requested at this time:
Bottled water
Non-perishable food
Pop-top canned goods
Diapers
Flashlights
Batteries
Cleaning Supplies
Personal hygiene products
Adult diapers
Tarps
Rakes
Chainsaw + chainsaw supplies
Shop-Vacs
Fans
Dehumidifiers
Gas Cans
We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you all at our area open houses this Saturday and Sunday.

Do Some Digging
Power up your computer or charge up your Smart Phone and start "digging" for information on the homes you plan to visit. Access a home valuation estimate on our HPW.com website to review a comprehensive report with property details, recent area sales, and more useful information for each of the homes you like.
Take Your Time
Give yourself ample time to tour the homes you visit. Walk through each home with the onsite agent and then go back through on your own. Take time to step into the backyard or stroll down the street. Buying a home is a big deal, and you're going to want to gather every detail possible to make an educated decision.
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Attending an open house is exciting, especially when you think the home may be perfect for you and your family. Do your best to remain cool, calm, and collected as you take your tour to ensure you see the home as it really is, without the rose-colored lenses.

Don't let the cold weather fool you, Raleigh and the greater Research Triangle area are hot and getting hotter. We're talking about our local real estate markets, of course.
National real estate website Zillow just ranked the City of Oaks as the second hottest housing market in the nation. With routine reports of high demand and low inventory, a tremendous number of job opportunities, excellent quality of life, and increasing home values across the numerous counties that make up the prospering area, the top 10 designation shouldn't come as a surprise.
Raleigh quickly rose to the top of Zillow's 50-metro research list thanks to its strong population growth and a healthy 9 percent increase in average household income over the previous year. The City's close proximity to the fast-growing Research Triangle Park tech hub was another important factor thanks to the giant corporations and well-known businesses anchored there. According to one of Zillow's research analysts:
"This list shows that just because a market is smaller or more affordable doesn't mean it isn't dynamic," said Zillow senior economist Aaron Terrazas. "Growing cities in the Sun Belt, places like Raleigh, Charlotte and Nashville, offer plenty of opportunities healthcare and finance, while providing a less-expensive, but still-convenient, alternative to the larger and pricier markets in the Northeast."
Think that living in or around Raleigh may be for you? We can help you find out.
Start by taking a tour of the area on our real estate website. Read about the different parts of Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and all of the lauded towns in between and just beyond. Learn about area events, restaurants, and cultural offerings. Take a look at the homes available in zip codes near and far.
Would you like to know what your home is worth before you consider selling it? A home value estimate is only a few clicks away at HPW.com.
Not only can we give you an idea of what your home may be worth, but we are also able to provide details about recent area home sales, local market home values and more.
Our local Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston Realtors are ready and willing to support you throughout your real estate journey.
No matter where you want to buy in the Triangle region, you can trust an HPW real estate expert to work hard on your behalf from "for sale" to "sold."
All of our agents are well trained and able to provide superior sales and marketing services, offer advanced knowledge and insight into the local communities and neighborhoods that interest you, and navigate a successful real estate experience.
For the second time this year, Vogue Magazine has spotlighted one of our Triangle cities on its highly-trafficked website and inside its well-read pages.
So, whether you prefer to say "en vogue" or "in vogue," you'll be right when you're talking about living in Raleigh.
Together with real estate website Trulia, Vogue named the City of Oaks among the top three places in the nation to buy a home in the coming year. According to Vogue:
If everyone you know seems to be moving to Raleigh, there's a reason: North Carolina's capital is often listed as one of the best places in the U.S. to live and, thanks to a booming tech industry, boasts one of the best employment markets in the country. The influx of jobs and money means the city has become pretty vibrant over the last few years—and some say the culinary scene is one of the most underrated in the country. That's thanks in part, no doubt, to 2014 James Beard Award–winner Ashley Christensen, who owns six highly acclaimed local restaurants (including Death & Taxes, Beasley's Chicken and Honey, and Poole's). Foodies will also love the 30,000-square-foot State Farmers' Market, which sells produce, meats, cheese, and specialty items from local growers and makers. To soak up the city's balmy southeast weather, take a stroll through Duke Gardens. With 55 acres of specialty gardens—including a moss garden, peony garden, and carnivorous plant garden—it's no wonder locals consider it one of the city's gems.
The study Trulia commissioned reviewed the 2017 housing market to provide forecasts for the upcoming 2018 market including buyer and seller behavior, homeownership rate predictions, and real estate market review.
Not surprisingly, Trulia's in-the-know research team revealed Raleigh to be among the top "Markets on the Move" based on job growth, low vacancy rates, affordability, inbound website searches for the city and surrounding area on Trulia.com, and population. Raleigh was the only North Carolina city to make the list which was whittled down from the 100 largest U.S. real estate markets.
Raleigh has long been lauded as a great place to live, work and play.
From recent features on Inc.com and HuffPost to Forbes, U.S. News & World Report and too-many-to-count business and lifestyle publications and websites, you can trust that our Capital City is simply that, a capital choice to call home.
Made up of a thriving downtown with an ever-growing cityscape, historic neighborhoods, established communities, and newly built homes with an abundance of retail, restaurant and cultural hotspots in between, buyers will likely find all that they seek in Raleigh.
The Triangle city's convenient location just beyond the Research Triangle Park business hub is another popular perk with big businesses like IBM, Cisco, GlaxoSmithKline, Fidelity and Credit Suisse.
Raleigh isn't the only Triangle city to gain affection from Vogue this year—Durham felt the love as well.
This spring, the Bull City strolled away with the fantastic claim of being the "Hippest City in North Carolina" thanks to its cultural offerings, award-winning chefs and local restaurants, and must-visit hotels.
According to Vogue writer and Durham day-tripper Jennifer Rice: Durham is perhaps known first and foremost as the home to Duke University (and its famed basketball team), but it's becoming a destination for much more than just Blue Devils games. In recent years, a bustling and creative culinary scene has emerged. The Durham Performing Arts Center, American Tobacco Campus, Brightleaf Square, and Durham Bulls games—where you can watch a home run while noshing on empanadas and peach cobbler with ice cream—are also noteworthy attractions.
Your hopes for a snow-filled weekend may have melted away with the drizzly day, but our real estate agents' upcoming open houses are sure to lift your spirits.
It's time to forget about walking in a winter wonderland and focus on walking through your new front door.
Our local real estate agents have listings from Mebane all the way to Goldsboro, and you're bound to want to see a few.
Check out a complete list of our Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston open houses to figure out which homes you'd like to tour on Saturday and Sunday.

With 70-degree temps, low humidity and two days full of area open houses only a wake-up away, it's almost as if Mother Nature has deemed this the weekend for you to find your new home. We're ready to help you prove her right.
Our in-the-know real estate agents will be hosting open houses this Saturday and Sunday in nearly every corner of this prospering Triangle region and Goldsboro too. It's time to map out a plan to make the most of this fall weekend.
It doesn't matter if your entering the second month of your house hunt or are just getting started, you're going to want to make the most of your open house visits.
Power up your computer or charge up your Smart Phone and start "digging" for information on the homes you plan to visit. Access a home valuation estimate on our new HPW.com website to review a comprehensive report with property details, recent area sales, and more useful information for each of the homes you like.
Give yourself ample time to tour the homes you visit. Walk through each home with the onsite agent and then go back through on your own. Take time to step into the backyard or stroll down the street. Buying a home is a big deal, and you're going to want to gather every detail possible to make an educated decision.
Attending an open house is exciting, especially when you think the home may be perfect for you and your family. Do your best to remain cool, calm, and collected as you take your tour to ensure you see the home as it really is, without the rose-colored lenses.

With a hot real estate market and low levels of housing inventory, it's quite apparent that Raleigh and the greater Triangle area cities and towns are pretty popular places to call home. In fact, so many people are relocating to the City of Oaks that it just earned a place on a recently released list of the nation's fastest-growing cities.
Determined to spotlight the "cities [that] know the key ingredients for long-term prosperity," WalletHub reviewed 515 cities and towns to quantify economic and population growth and rank those with great gains.
The financial news website evaluated 15 key factors including population and job growth, household income, number of businesses and startups, venture capital investment, building-permit activity and more.
Raleigh ranked among the top 15 percent on the national list as the 68th fastest growing city in the nation. In the large city category, it scored even higher coming in 10th position only slightly behind the much less affordable West Coast city of San Francisco.
Cary and Durham were included on the fastest-growing midsize cities list, ranking 52nd and 88th respectively.
"With companies like Credit Suisse and Infosys adding thousands of high-paying jobs this year and next, the Triangle area will continue to attract people from all over the country," said Nancy Harner, senior vice president of the Relocation and Corporate Real Estate Services Division at Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston. "There are very few places in the country that can offer all that the Triangle brings to the table—immense career opportunities, affordability, an appealing landscape, and burgeoning cultural and food scenes."
Raleigh and the greater Triangle are home to major employers and well-known companies like IBM Corporation, Cisco Systems, SAS Institute, Red Hat, GlaxoSmithKline, and Lenovo.
The burgeoning area also has a vast number of startups and growing tech businesses many of which take up shop in Durham's American Underground with significant venture capital investments.
With many of its cities and towns named among the best places to live in the nation, the Triangle is ideal for people in all stages of life.
Home buyers will find bustling city settings and quiet, suburban neighborhoods conveniently located near major thoroughfares, ample shopping and dining options, public parks, and award-winning cultural centers.
Houses and homes of all shapes and sizes are available in new and established communities with well-rated schools.

Interested in settling down in one of the best places to live in America? Consider Knightdale or Morrisville for your next home.
MONEY Magazine just released its 2017 Best Places to Live list awarding the two growing Triangle towns a coveted spot among the top 100 cities and towns featured.
"Where you choose to live is an important decision, one that influences your life in every way," said Adam Auriemma, editor for MONEY.
Having compiled the much-anticipated list since 1987, we're confident in the trusted news source's methodology and accurate reports, especially since researchers brought Realtor.com's expertise into the fold this year. Altogether, MONEY's reporters collected and reviewed nearly 170,000 different data points about 2,400 places in the U.S. Consideration was given to each location's economic health, cost of living factors, ease of living, crime, public education, amenities, housing market costs and population growth rates.
Auriemma added that the list "represents the best of America's towns and cities: places that offer economic opportunity, a sense of community, and access to amenities that make life more enjoyable."
Known by locals as a great place to "Start Something," Knightdale claimed the 76th spot on the list in the top 30 percent of all places surveyed.
According to MONEY, the town posted a projected job growth of more than 10 percent, a comfortable cost of living with a median home price of $267,350, an average 29-minute commute for residents and more than 215 clear-weather days per year.
Knightdale is located nine miles east of downtown Raleigh in Wake County. With a population of nearly 15,000 people, it is a town of growth and opportunity for young families and first-time homeowners.
Mayor James Roberson proudly talks about the fast-growing town saying, "Knightdale combines city convenience with Southern charm."
The town adds new businesses and retailers daily priding itself on attracting employers large and small. It has also become a beverage-lovers' destination with Oak City Brewing Company and Lassiter Distilling Company opening up shop within walking distance of each other on North First Avenue.
Knightdale's parks and greenway trails are another popular draw. Its 3.5-mile Mingo Creek Trail offers walkers, runners, and cyclists the opportunity to tour the town's scenic landscape and links them up with Raleigh's sprawling Neuse River Greenway Trail.
This isn't the first time Morrisville has earned recognition on MONEY's national Best Places to Live list, and it certainly won't be the last.
Located an equal distance between Raleigh and Durham and a short drive from the Research Triangle Park, the town was excitedly named 90th out of the 2,400 places MONEY's researchers reviewed.
The town posted projected job growth of nearly 11 percent, a median home price of $267,350, a median household income of $92,420, and commute times averaging 21 minutes. Like its list liaison Knightdale, the Triangle suburb also enjoys more than 215 clear-weather days annually.
Morrisville is an ideal Triangle suburb for professionals with careers in Cary, Raleigh, Durham and the nationally recognized Research Triangle Park.
Focused on helping its diverse pool of residents to "Live connected. Live well.," Morrisville offers a high quality of life amid a small-town setting perfect for people in all stages of life.
Well-rated public schools and parks add to the town's family-friendly status.
Home to Lenovo's U.S. headquarters, Credit Suisse, and numerous tech start-ups, Morrisville is committed to economic development and continued business growth to increase job and career opportunities.
Morrisville is also home to The Chef's Academy at Harrison College, a culinary school for those pursuing careers in the food industry.

What do you get when you combine a reasonable cost of living, a multitude of career opportunities and immense livability? Introducing the Triangle—the perfect place to live, work and play, and home to three of the five North Carolina metro areas ranked on WalletHub's 2017 Best Real Estate Markets lists.
The personal finance website rated 300 cities and towns across the nation against 21 key indicators of housing-market attractiveness. Factors considered included affordability, economic development such as job growth and unemployment rates, and real estate market trends such as average days on the market for listings, number of rental properties, and home sales.
After numerous accolades bestowed on the Western Wake County town throughout the year, Cary scored a single digit place on the top 100 list, ranking fourth with high marks for housing affordability, population and job growth rates and more. Compared to towns its own size, Cary ranked even higher taking second place in WalletHub's mid-size cities category.
Cary is a great place to call home. Named among the safest cities to raise a child by SafeWise, one of WalletHub's top recommendations for first-time home buyers, and a popular choice for millennials as reported by SmartAsset, the Triangle suburb has a lot going for it.
Want a well-developed suburban community with commuter convenience? Seeking green space and parks? Want easy access to retail centers and restaurants? On the hunt for a home in a family-friendly neighborhood? You would be wise to add Cary to your list of places to live.
The bustling Bull City of Durham was also spotlighted on WalletHub's city compilations ranking eight on the mid-size cities list and 23rd on the overall list of 100.
Probably best known as the home of the Duke Blue Devils, Durham is known nationally for its leading medical, research and educational facilities including Duke Medicine and Duke University. You should know that the revitalized tobacco town offers much more.
Named the "Hippest City in North Carolina" by Vogue Magazine, Durham has a flourishing cultural scene accented by top-rated restaurants and bars. In its American Tobacco Historic District alone, you'll find the acclaimed Durham Performing Arts Center, the Durham Bulls Minor League Baseball Team, a start-up incubator, and numerous tech businesses.
Raleigh and its attractive real estate market also snagged a place on the "best of" list coming in ninth ahead of Charlotte among the large cities reviewed and 44th overall.
There are only a few national "best of" lists that leave Raleigh off, and for good reason; the Capital City stacks up well against home buyers' must-haves and wants.
The city's ideal economic climate attracts companies, large and small, that bring high-paying jobs to town and the influx of professionals who follow.
Raleigh's livability is another asset that adds appeal. From miles of greenway trails and public parks to performance centers and cultural events, people of all ages and interests are bound to find something they enjoy.
"Raleigh and the greater Triangle area are experiencing rapid population growth due to the multitude of offerings within in our cities and towns," said Nancy Harner, senior vice president of the Relocation and Corporate Real Estate Services Division at Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston. "We have the innovative jobs professionals want, the homes they seek for their families, and a desirable costing of living that makes relocating worth their while."

Thinking about dipping your toe in the homeownership pool? Cary is for you, first-time home buyers.
The growing Triangle town recently earned a top five spot on WalletHub's list of the Best Places for First-Time Home Buyers ranking fourth out of the 300 cities and towns the personal finance website reviewed.
Compared against 23 key indicators, WalletHub assessed each to determine market attractiveness, affordability, and quality of life. Cary scored well, especially for affordability and real estate market rank, which evaluated market health, share of homes sold annually, building-permit activity, home price appreciation and more. Not surprisingly given its past recognitions as one of the safest places to live in the nation, Cary also snagged fifth place among the cities with the lowest property-crime rate.
"Cary has made its mark on the map as an ideal place to live in the Triangle for first-time buyers, seasoned homeowners and those seeking the perfect place to enjoy retirement," said Beckie Hanley, branch manager of the Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston Cary Office. "With a downtown revitalization plan underway and focused growth to bring in new businesses and support citizens' requests for recreational offerings, the town is poised to be the area's most popular suburb."
The Town of Cary wasn't the only Triangle location on the national list; Raleigh and Durham also made an appearance ranking 23rd and 66th, respectively. However, when reviewed by size, Raleigh took home first place on the large city list, and Durham snagged 22nd position on the mid-sized city compilation.
A convenient Triangle area suburb, Cary is making a name for itself among home buyers in all walks of life.
The thriving town is a short commute away from the larger Triangle cities of Raleigh and Durham and the region's popular Research Triangle Park business center.
Numerous well-known companies call Cary home including SAS Institute, Verizon and Deutsche Bank. Local businesses and restaurants are also abundant with more and more opening in the community monthly.
Recreational offerings at area parks and cultural events and live performances hosted at the renowned Koka Booth Amphitheatre are highly anticipated and well attended throughout the year.

Home buyers will find the homes they seek in neighborhoods that suit their families in the lauded town.
"Cary has wonderful communities, new developments, and well-established neighborhoods, with homes in an array of styles, sizes, and prices," added Hanley. You may not have written it on your "must-have" list between an open kitchen and designated laundry room, but chances are that safety is among your top priorities for your next house and the community you will call home.
Fortunately for you, buyers, the Triangle is known to have some of the safest towns and cities in the country with Cary leading the charge.
The Triangle town has recently earned not one, but two separate nods from SafeWise and The National Council for Home Safety and Security touting its safe streets and engaging environment.
SafeWise ranked Cary as the tenth best city on its 2017 list of The 30 Safest Cities to Raise a Child sharing that, "While parents always strive to closely supervise their kids, it helps to have a community that's willing to focus on family-friendly initiatives that make the difference."
The home security provider then went on to offer further insight into its research on the growing Cary suburb, reporting:
Located near the Research Triangle Park, Cary's award-winning sports and recreation department has a robust approach to youth sports. Dotted with creeks and tree-lined streets, this community outside of Raleigh is one of the most highly educated in America, as 68% of residents have a college degree.
Cary also snagged a prime position on the National Council for Home Safety and Security's list of the safest cities in the nation coming in 40th out of the top 100 municipalities reviewed based on FBI and local crime reports.
Like SafeWise, the National Council for Home Safety and Security highlighted many of the Raleigh suburb's recreational amenities and activities to demonstrate the numerous opportunities residents have to enjoy healthy and active lifestyles:
Cary is located between Chapel Hill and Raleigh North Carolina with a population of 160,291. This "Bicycle Friendly Community" is located along the U.S. Bicycle Route 1 along with offering mountain biking in Lake Crabtree County Park. There are also many historic places to visit such as the Page-Walker Hotel, which contains the Cary Heritage Museum to Yates Mill. The area's many lakes such as Lake Johnson and Crabtree provide trails and water sports for entertainment during the hot summer months.
Cary isn't the only town in the Triangle region to earn acclaim as a safe place to live.
Over the past year, towns all throughout Wake and surrounding Triangle area counties have added safe-city recognitions including:
