HPW Luxury | 6 Desirable Features Found in HPW Luxury Homes

In and around the Triangle area, there are several beautiful luxury listings available for sale. What exactly differentiates these properties from the standard market? Is it the square footage, the features, or the technology? Some would say it is all of the above. Ultimately, luxury buyers are not looking at the price tag in their search for their next dream home but the amazing amenities that come with the property. Here are the top 6 must-have features in luxury homes!

1. Indoor / Outdoor living

Indoor/outdoor living seamlessly extends your home's great room or dining quarters. This trend tends to keep cohesion in design from the interior to the exterior of your home. Typically indoor/ outdoor living has always been a primal commodity when searching for a new home. With the new normal consisting of being at your humble abode more these days, the amenity has become a necessity. What makes an outdoor living space luxurious is the ability to provide comfort through all seasons while also allotting multiple entertainment options. High-end features include retracting screened porches, outdoor kitchens, cabanas, and sometimes a type of water feature. This CBHPW luxury listing checks off each box on the list! With its large covered porch and a wood fireplace, the immaculate outdoor kitchen has a top-of-the-line grill station, jacuzzi, and extensive acreage for sporting events or games. One thing for sure is that you may yearn to host any occasion with this property as your next home. To view more of this listing, click here.

2. Theatre Room

Entertainment becomes the next level when a luxury property contains an in-home theater. The ability to bring the ultimate cinematic experience to your fingertips is a sought amenity many buyers search for when hunting for their next home. What makes an in-home theater top-notch is its ability to incorporate features similar to an actual movie theater. This includes a top-of-the-line av-system, projector, large screens, recessed lighting, and comfortable loungers. The goal of the theater room is to immerse yourself in what's on the screen, whether that be the newest megahit movie or the exciting rival sports game. The cinema room pictured above is from none other than one of our CBHPW luxury listings. This glorious in-home theater offers stadium seating, a high-tech projector, and even mimics the groovy movie theater carpet. To view more of this property, click here.

3. Large Garages

The standard two-car garage does not cut it for luxury properties. Buyers are looking for substantial space when envisioning the housing of their precious automobiles. Typically, luxury properties have at least a 3-car garage! To any car buff, the garage is not just a space for storing your vehicle. This part of the property could be turned into a luxurious showroom, man cave, or workshop. This beautiful CBHPW luxury property comes with a three-car garage with gorgeous rustic wood garage doors. To view more of this property, click here.

4. Intricate Ceiling Designs

Raised ceilings and other intricate ceiling styles are quite the fanbase for luxury homes. A room turns from basic to compelling when there is a ceiling feature that adds depth, sophistication, and style. In most luxury dwellings, at least one space must contain a styled ceiling. One of these rooms can be the living room, sitting room, primary bedrooms, and or dining rooms. What exactly are some styles of these ceilings? They are cathedral, tray, beamed, suspended, and coffered. One would love to have any of these exquisite designs in their home!  For example, in this CBHPW luxury listing above. The sitting room contains a beautiful coffered ceiling. The coffered ceiling consists of sunken panels accented by molding, creating a waffle-like appearance. What works well in this room is the brilliant addition of recessed lighting. For more on this property click here

5. Massive Walk-In Closets

Typically an owner of a luxury home tends to live a complete life of luxury. Meaning everything about them is high-end, like their fashion sense. Closets in a luxury home are an extension of the main room and need to boast space and means of organization. Closets these days are not just for hanging clothes. They can be an area to lounge in after using the spa bathroom or a place to put on that fashion show after shopping in the streets of London. For sure, luxury home buyers are looking for closets that encompass organization and can show off their beautiful wardrobe. In this CBHPW luxury home, the primary closet is genuinely massive. This closet incorporates different levels of custom built-in shelving and an island dresser to accommodate all buyers' attire needs. To view more of this property, click here.

6. Relaxing Spa baths

When buyers search for their next home, kitchens and bathrooms are the most focused rooms, which is why main bathrooms in luxury homes are genuinely upping the ante in their need to give that spa-like aura. Features include a jacuzzi bathtub fit for a king, a large walk-in shower that doubles as a steam room, neutral colors, beautiful stone or tile, and lots of space for minimal clutter. In this CBHPW luxury listing, this bathroom truly exuberates comfort and relaxation. The large window allows natural light to encase the room, making the white pop against the darker grays. The unity in neutral colors creates a calming sensation. One can relax in the free-standing tub or use the shower with multi-shower heads in this bathroom. To view more, click here

When buying or selling in the luxury market, we are sure you have seen one or more of these features within the properties. To view, all of Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walstons' luxury homes for sale, visit our website at https://www.hpwluxury.com

5 Ways to Give Back in Raleigh This Holiday Season

Raleigh Nonprofits

The holiday season seems to fly by, and it's easy to get caught up in all of the festivities. Unfortunately, between the shopping and parties, many of us lose sight of the real spirit of the season. This is a special time of the year symbolized by good tidings and cheer. Our real estate agents encourage you to give the gift of compassion, kindness, and charity this holiday season by giving back to our Raleigh communities.

  1. Donate Gifts
Make someone's holidays extra special by donating gifts to local children and families. There are plenty of families living paycheck to paycheck that cannot afford to purchase gifts for their family members. Make sure everyone has a gift to unwrap this holiday season by donating a special gift or wrapping paper to these organizations:
  1. Donate to a Food Pantry
As you sit down for dinner with family and friends, please remember that there are those in our community who go to bed hungry each night. While it might not seem like much, small pantry or cupboard staples like canned veggies, bread, rice, and toiletries are vital necessities that many are left at home without. Before filling your own plate, consider feeding the hungry with donations to these local food banks:
  1. Don't Forget About Animals
There are many residents throughout the Raleigh area that need our love and support. Unfortunately, some of these residents also include animals. Our local animal shelters are full of cats, dogs, and other pets who deserve loving homes and support.
  1. Give the Gift of Life
Now more than ever, it's important that we come together to preserve the health of every resident of Raleigh. There are many sick and injured men, women, and children in our hospitals who are in dire need of blood transfusions. Consider donating blood to one of our local donation centers. Your blood can save up to three lives and be used to combat a variety of diseases.

  2. Volunteer
If you can't afford to give any possession or monetary donation to those in need, you can still help by donating the gift of your time. Countless organizations throughout the Raleigh area need volunteers to serve our community. Consider canceling a shopping trip and instead spend an afternoon volunteering:

We hope you take a moment this holiday season to express your kindness to those in need. Remember, every act, no matter how small, can make a huge impact on someone's life. As always, feel free to contact us if you need assistance selling or buying Raleigh homes for sale.

World Blood Donor Day: Where to Donate Near Raleigh

Donate Blood in Raleigh

World Blood Donor Day, which takes place every year on June 14, is a day to raise awareness for the need of blood donations around the world and to thank the many people who donate life-saving blood each year. This year's edition of World Blood Donor Day is especially important, because so many medical facilities are in need of blood due to COVID-19. Our real estate agents have put together a list of blood drives and donation facilities where you can donate blood for World Blood Donor Day this year.

World Blood Donor Day: Where to Donate Near Raleigh

  • What to Know Before You Donate
In the past blood drives would often allow walk-in donors, but this year there are extra precautions in place due to COVID-19. For donors, the main difference is that you'll have to schedule an appointment in order to donate this year. Both donation centers and blood drives have appointment slots available in 15-minute intervals. You can schedule your appointment online, or call ahead to save your appointment slot.

  • The Blood Connection – 5925 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27612
With convenient locations near Raleigh homes for sale and in other nearby communities, The Blood Connection is a donation center with appointments available 7 days per week. The Blood Connection has appointments available for both whole blood and plasma donations every day. Anyone over 16 years of age is eligible to donate, and donors are eligible to give blood as long as it has been at least 56 days since your last donation.

  • North Raleigh Blood Donation Center – 8301 Bandford Way, Raleigh, NC 27613
The North Raleigh Blood Donation Center will be hosting daily drives six days per week starting on June 11, with a wide variety of time slots available. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday appointments are available from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If an evening appointment better suits your schedule, you can sign up for a slot from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday or Tuesday. On Thursday, you can set up a donation at any time from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • Crabtree Valley Mall – June 24 – 4325 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27612
There will be a blood drive sponsored by iHeartRadio at the Crabtree Valley Mall on June 24, with appointments available from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The mall is currently open with additional safety and sanitation procedures in place, so you can plan a day of shopping around your donation. There have often been summer blood drives at Crabtree Valley Mall with great success, and appointment slots will likely fill up fast this year. At this blood drive, anyone can donate whole blood, and you can donate Power Red if your blood type is O, A Negative, or B Negative.

  • Raleigh Blood Donation Center – 100 N Peartree Ln., Raleigh, NC 27610
The Red Cross has two blood donation centers in Raleigh, and the Raleigh Blood Donation Center is open for donations three days per week. Appointments are available on Monday from 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This donation center accepts both whole blood and Power Red donations. Schedule your appointment by calling the Red Cross, or visiting the Donation Center website.

Where to Donate Homemade Masks in Raleigh

Homemade Masks in Raleigh

While the current COVID-19 crisis has upended life as we know it, many people are finding creative ways to help out their neighbors and show that they care. Several people have reached out to our real estate agents, asking what they can do to support our local community.

If you want to make a contribution to medical professionals and others who need personal protective equipment (PPE), you may consider joining the many Americans who are making homemade face masks to help stop the spread of this virus. One of the best ways to do this is to join the national group called "Face Mask Warriors."

How to Work With Face Mask Warriors

The North Carolina branch of this group has over 2,500 followers on its Facebook page. Request to join the group, and you can learn more about the project and connect with other like-minded individuals.

If you're ready to jump in, visit their website. From here, you can request information regarding how to donate completed masks or learn more about how to volunteer to create masks, caps, or gowns. They'll provide you with the patterns and, if necessary, they'll also give you the materials you'll need. When you've completed your projects, you can either drop them off at a designated location or request that they come and pick them up from your home.

Currently, the group has donated masks to UNC Health and is gathering a collection for Glenaire Retirement Community in Cary. This organization is currently looking for about 300 adult-sized masks for their residents. Other organizations can also request masks on the Face Mask Warriors website. As stay-at-home orders begin to be lifted, it's likely that the need will continue to increase.

Don't Sew? You Can Still Help!

Even if you don't sew, you can still join the group and help out. They also need people to drop off and pick up materials and completed projects. You could also donate materials or volunteer the outside of your home to be a designed drop-off point.

The completed masks and other PPE are being donated to health care facilities, certain hospitals, and other organizations that need them. Note that not all organizations are accepting homemade masks, so it's best to join a group like this one to ensure that your efforts are as effective as possible.

During these uncertain times, it's easy to feel helpless. However, taking steps like this can make you feel more in control while also helping to make the world a better place.

Random Acts of Kindness Around Raleigh

Raleigh Random Acts of Kindness

During tough times, our Raleigh community comes together. Our real estate agents are proud to call the Raleigh area home and are determined to spread some kindness across the community. Here are some simple random acts of kindness you can complete in the Raleigh area to help others during these difficult times.

  • Donate to or Volunteer at a Food Bank - Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, 1924 Capital Blvd., Raleigh, NC 27604
With people shut in and low on funds, it's difficult for them to maintain healthy eating habits, especially if they have kids. Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina is continuing to serve local residents in need while following CDC's best practices. You can help by donating funds, holding a virtual food drive or volunteering with a self-scheduled shift on the website. The Raleigh distribution center is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

  • Adopt a Rescue Animal - SPCA of Wake County, 200 Petfinder Ln., Raleigh, NC 27603
SPCA of Wake County is working hard to care for these animals until they can be rehomed. The shelter is currently closed, but the organization is accepting applications and conducting phone meetings so you can reserve the pet of your choice until adoptions resume. Each day at 2 p.m., a staff member conducts a Facebook Live event where you can view the dogs and cats currently available for adoption. If you're not in a position to adopt, consider a financial donation toward SPCA's expenses.

  • Support Healthcare Workers - Duke Health, 1233-D Front St., Raleigh, NC 27609
Healthcare workers such as those in the Duke Health system are working tirelessly around the clock to care for patients. They desperately need supplies such as N95, surgical and looped masks along with sealed boxes of gloves and eye protection. With blood bank supplies running low, healthcare providers are asking for healthy people to become donors. Finally, you can make a financial gift to the Duke COVID-19 Response Fund for research and testing. Donated supplies can be dropped off at the Raleigh location from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. weekdays.

  • Send Greeting Cards to Nursing Home Residents - Capital Nursing and Rehabilitation, 3000 Holston Ln., Raleigh, NC 27610
Extra precautions are being taken to protect people in nursing home and long-term care facilities who are more vulnerable to health risks. Sadly, these people are feeling even more isolated from friends and loved ones at a time when they need support the most. Take a few minutes to brighten the day of patients at places such as Capital Nursing and Rehabilitation with a cheerful greeting card. Be sure to call the facility first and ask about any special procedures they may have regarding cards and delivery.

  • Help Neighbors
Lending a helping hand to neighbors in need is a great way to lift the spirits of everyone involved, especially if you know any healthcare providers, first responders or elderly people. Here are just a few ideas of how you can assist those around you: mow the lawn; shop for groceries; pick up prescriptions; babysit; walk dogs; give restaurant or grocery store gift cards; share supplies; call or text just to say hi.

Howard Perry and Walston is proud to be part of such a caring and supportive community. Contact us for more information about Raleigh homes for sale

Turkeys for the Triangle Donates 2,500 Thanksgiving Turkeys

Our first Turkeys for the Triangle distribution event was a tremendous success!

Box trucks, cargo vans, pickup trucks and SUVs lined up at our Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston corporate office to collect and deliver more than 2,500 frozen turkeys to nonprofit and military organizations across Central North Carolina.

Despite the rain and cold temperatures, it was a great day to Help People Win, a commitment our company founder and chairman and Turkeys for the Triangle founder holds near and dear.

"I'll tell you what, it's one of those things," said Don Walston. "It's hard to describe the benefit when you see someone who really appreciates what you're doing for them– it's a– I don't know how to describe it but it's a warm feeling."

A five-year partner of our Turkeys for the Triangle program, Butterball generously donated 1,500 of the 2,500 turkeys we handed out this week.

HPW Pig Out For The Cure Raises More Than $23,800 For UNC Lineberger

'Cue, chicken, and charity! We're excited to share that Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston recently raised more than $23,800 for the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center as part of our Pig Out For the Cure fundraiser and commitment to Helping People Win.

"Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston and its team members are true friends of UNC Lineberger, and their support makes it possible for us to provide the people of North Carolina with the best cancer care today, and to conduct the research that will lead to even better treatments," said Martin Baucom, UNC Lineberger's senior executive director of development & communications.

Organized by our Chapel Hill and Pittsboro offices, our real estate sales associates sought out sponsors and sold barbecue plates to raise the money for the UNC Lineberger's Patient and Family Resource Center. The donation will bring our Pig Out For the Cure program's total contribution to UNC Lineberger to nearly $75,000 since 2010.

"We're very grateful to the many businesses and generous people who supported our Pig Out For The Cure fundraiser," said Randy Cox, sales manager and broker-in-charge of our Chapel Hill and Pittsboro offices. "Our team prepped and handed out more than 700 barbeque plates and had a great time doing it. We're proud that our effort will help to advance UNC Lineberger's mission to support those facing cancer."
